Out Of Conference Rivalry Mania

It’s your regularly scheduled programming, but not your regularly scheduled topic. There is always a reduction of notable games while the majority of schools are having their final exams, so rather than the normal review and preview this week, we’re doing a themed show. The theme?? Out Of Conference Rivalries…

I don’t know if it is by design or not, but the second week of December is the week that we’re normally treated to an abundance of OOC rivalries, or at the very least OOC games that match up numerous teams from similar geographic regions that are hostile toward each other.

We discuss the overall history, and current relevance of Iowa vs Iowa State, Xavier vs Cincinnati, Utah vs BYU, Marshall vs West Virginia, and several others. We also have a general overall discussion of other intense OOC rivalries that take place throughout the year such as Illinois vs Missouri, the Big Five, and Louisville vs Kentucky.

Finally, we close out by discussing out of conference rivalries between teams that currently do not play, but that we’d like to see. Ohio State vs Cincinnati, Wichita State vs Kansas, Kansas vs Missouri, and Maryland vs Georgetown are some that top the list
