Small Conference Game of the Day – December 15

UC-Santa Barbara at San Diego, 5:00 PM Eastern

On our way back from our visit to the Hawaiian Islands last night, the SCGD is making a stop tonight in San Diego to see the Toreros host the early season favorites in the Big West, the Gauchos of UCSB (FSN-San Diego and free streaming via the USD web site).  San Diego is coming off a heart-breaking one point loss to cross-town rival San Diego State last week and is looking for a quality home win before they head into conference play beginning at the end of this month.

UCSB, on the other hand, has been one of a handful of teams that the SCGD and our Under the Radar podcasts has been watching closely all season.  They originally caught our attention with a dominating 86-65 win at UNLV.  They have also scored a very good home win against Cal.  Their schedule to date has also featured games against UCLA, Utah State and Colorado (all losses).  They still have a handful of games left before Big West play, though tonight’s game and a return trip to Utah State are their two toughest by far.  If they can get through the rest of their non-conference slate without any blemishes, their big wins to date should be enough to keep them on our radar the rest of the season.
