It seemed like virtually every game tonight came down to the wire. After hitting an amazing shot at the buzzer to force overtime, Valparaiso was upset by Green Bay despite having what appeared to be all of the momentum. Wright State also won a game against Oakland that went back and forth down the stretch. The two will face each other tomorrow.
Iona defeated Monmouth to win the Metro Atlantic Championship in another close game that went back and forth the whole way. Monmouth still has a shot at making the NCAA Tournament, and we discuss what we think their chances are, but they’ll really be sweating on Selection Sunday.
Hofstra opened up a big lead against UNC Wilmington, but Wilmington mounted a comeback in the second half and ended up winning the Colonial championship.
Chattanooga won the SoCon championship with a win over East Tennessee State. The Mocs were the best team in the SoCon by far, and they had some big wins during the season, so they could be a dangerous team in the NCAAs.
Saint Mary’s had no trouble with Pepperdine, and Gonzaga won in a thriller against BYU in the West Coast semis. The two rivals will play for the automatic bid tomorrow.
We had two incredible semifinals in the Summit League with North Dakota State and South Dakota State both mounting comebacks to come up with the wins.
The America East semifinals were also tonight, along with the opening rounds of the MEAC and MAC Tournaments.
