The Under the Radar Game of the Day returns to Murfreesboro, Tennessee tonight as head coach Kermit Davis’ Blue Raiders welcome in one of the Ohio Valley Conference’s top teams, and an old OVC rival from 1952-2000, Murray State.  Middle Tennessee started the 2016-17 season on Friday afternoon by defeating NAIA member Milligan 102-64.  Reggie Upshaw led the way in that game, scoring 21 points, pulling down 13 rebounds and dishing out 4 assists.  Five other players also scored in double-figures, including another 21 points from Jacorey Williams.  Tonight, Middle Tennessee will have a much tougher test as they take on their first Division I opponent of the year.

Murray State enters tonight’s game with a 1-0 record thanks to a solid home win over one of the Missouri Valley Conference’s top teams, Illinois State.  The Racers trailed Illinois State but were able to make the big comeback and cap the win on a Jonathan Stark 3-pointer with only 2 seconds left to play.  Stark was one of four Racers in double-digits, led by Terrell Miller’s 23 points.  If Murray State can pick up the road win tonight, notice will certainly be sent to the rest of the OVC, especially preseason favorite Belmont, that the Racers are back and ready to challenge for the league title.
