Under the Radar Game of the Day: Eastern Washington at Seattle

Eastern Washington at Seattle, 4:00 PM Eastern, goseattleu.com

The Under the Radar Game of the Day heads to the Pacific Northwest this afternoon for a rematch of a double overtime thriller from just last week between the Eastern Washington Eagles and the Seattle Redhawks.  The visiting Eagles enter today’s game with a record of 5-2 on the season.  All five wins have come on their home court in Cheney, though the last four have all been by six points or less, including an overtime win over Denver and their double overtime 80-76 win on November 22 over Seattle.  Jacob Wiley was the star of the game for the Eagles in that win, scoring 20 points and adding 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocked shots.  Also keep a real close on on Bogdan Bliznyuk.  Although he was held to only 7 points in the teams’ first meeting, he has topped the 30 point mark twice already this season and came one rebound shy of a triple-double against Denver.

Seattle U enters tonight’s game at 3-4 on the season; however, only one of those wins has come against Division I competition.  The losses have all been very respectable, as in addition to the Seattle game, they have lost at Colorado, Notre Dame and UCF.  Brendan Westendorf was the team’s top scorer in the first meeting with EWU, dropping 24 points.  Aaron Menzies is also capable of some great numbers.  He already has a pair of double-doubles this season, including a very impressive 36 point, 11 rebound effort in the team’s win over Louisiana-Monroe.  The Redhawks will need Westendorf, Menzies and the rest of their teammates to step up today if they want to defeat Eastern Washington and get their record back to the .500 mark.
