Under the Radar Game of the Day: Bucknell at Holy Cross

Bucknell at Holy Cross, 1:00 PM Eastern, patriotleague.tv

The Under the Radar Game of the Day heads to Worcester, Massachusetts today and the home court of the 1947 NCAA national champions, the Holy Cross Crusaders.  Although Holy Cross is very far removed from 1947, the Crusaders have been a perennial solid contender in the Patriot League in recent years.  This afternoon, they welcome in the team that has suddenly risen to the top of the conference standings, the Bucknell Bison.  Holy Cross sits at 8-8 overall and 2-1 in conference play entering today’s game.  The have picked up a pair of solid wins, by Under The Radar standards at least, at Harvard and at Albany.  Malachi Alexander and Robert Champion have led the way so far this season, and the two of them are just a pair of four different players on the Crusaders’ roster shooting over 35% from beyond the three-point arc.  If the Crusaders can continue to rain it in from downtown, Bucknell could be poised for their first conference loss today.

The Bucknell Bison enter play today at 3-0 in Patriot League play and 11-5 overall.  The Bison are coming off of a 9 point win at American earlier this week.  Kimbal Mackenzie led the way in that win with 24 points, including going 11-for-11 from the charity stripe.  Nana Foulland has also been a power down low, with 7 double-doubles on the year so far.  Also, don’t overlook Zach Thomas who scored 21 points while grabbing 11 boards in an earlier loss to Princeton.  The Bison have looked very good in early conference play, and if they are able to pick up a tough road win today, the sky may be the limit for this team in the Patriot League this season.
