Under The Radar Game of the Day: Montana at Portland State

Montana at Portland State, 4:00 PM EST – WatchBigSky.com

Today’s UTR Game of the Day takes us to the Pacific Northwest where the two teams with the best overall records (not league records, per se) face off at the Pamplin Sports Center. Montana leads the Big Sky with a 5-0 league record, but all of their wins have come against the bottom of the league so far. Ahmaad Rorie leads the Grizzlies at 18.3 points per game, and he had 23 points in Montana’s most recent win over Sacramento State. Jamar Akoh also averages about 14 points per game and recently went off for 34 points in a win at home against Northern Colorado.

Portland State has been a pleasant surprise this season and they have not faded (much) since their PK80 appearance that featured tough losses to Duke and Butler and a win against Stanford (along with a win at Cal in December). In the Big Sky, the Vikings have been all over the place – they have wins at home against Montana State and at Idaho, but they also had a respectable loss at Eastern Washington and a bad loss at Sacramento State. Deontae North averages 21 points a game for the Vikings and has also averaged 26 points in the aforementioned 2 wins against Idaho and Montana State.
