Tonight’s UTR Game of the Day features two teams favored to win their respective conferences – the Georgia State Panthers (Sun Belt) and the Montana Grizzlies (Big Sky). Both teams are also coming off seasons in which they qualified for the NCAA Tournament as well. This will be Montana’s first regular season game after a 90-58 win in an exhibition tuneup against Whitworth. That game saw 5 Montana players score in double figures (led by Sayeed Pritchett’s 17 points and 7 rebounds).
Georgia State defeated East Tennessee State 74-68 in their opener at home on Tuesday night. Jeff Thomas led the Panthers in that game with 26 points; D’Marcus Simonds also had 21 points in that game for Georgia State as well. However, Georgia State was outrebounded in that game 49-39 (including an eye-opening 27 offensive rebounds by ETSU).
