The Football Nitty Gritty Rankings try to emulate the success of the basketball ratings (JNG) as this cousin of the Joby JNG tries to statistically guess the Football Committee based on resume. In 2019, 2020 and 2021 it was the top computer ranking in the world at replicating the Football Playoff selections and the corresponding CFP top-25 using basketball’s bracket matrix methodology. In 2021, it was one of only 2 computer metrics that had the playoff order exactly correct and was more accurate than any other computer metric at predicting the rest of the top-25.
