Middle Tennessee vs UNC-Wilmington, 8:30 PM Eastern, No TV/Video
The three day, six game event known as the Challenge in Music City kicks off today in Nashville with a double-header. This event puts four schools together in a round-robin format, with Toledo and Evansville starting things off in the early game today (6:00 PM Eastern), followed by our Under the Radar Game of the Day between Middle Tennessee and UNC-Wilmington.
Middle Tennessee, already making their third appearance in the Under the Radar Game of the Day, enters play this evening with a record of 3-1, including home wins over Murray State and Toledo (who they will play in this event again tomorrow), and a home loss to Tennessee State. Jacorey Williams has led or tied for the lead in points scored for the Blue Raiders in every game so far this season, while Reggie Upshaw has been a force to be reckoned with as well. If the two of them continue to play at this level, Middle will prove to be one of the teams to beat in Conference USA this season.
UNC-Wilmington enters play today with a record of 3-0, including a solid road win at Eastern Kentucky and a home victory over a very good East Tennessee State team. Although four players scored in double figures for the Seahawks in their win over ETSU, including a double-double from Chris Flemmings, they only received 16 minutes and 4 points from their bench in the entire game. With three games in three days ahead in this event, UNCW will need to quickly find a lot more depth than that. If they do, they are certainly talented enough to not only win tonight’s game, but possibly sweep all three games in Nashville.
