Stephen F Austin at Louisiana Tech, 7:30 PM Eastern, cusa.tv
A pair of perennial top winning Under the Radar programs will be meeting in Ruston, Louisiana tonight as the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will host the Stephen F Austin Lumberjacks in the fist matchup of these two teams since December 1999. La Tech enters tonight’s game at 6-1 overall with only a hard-fought three point loss at Alabama in the negative column. The Bulldogs have already claimed the championship in this year’s Cancun Challenge, and are now looking to get ready for a run at a conference title as well. Senior forward Jacobi Boykins continues to be a huge factor for La Tech. He had a 12 rebound effort in the championship game in Cancun against Evansville and just became the 40th player in school history to reach the 1,000 career point mark this past weekend.
SFA is out to another solid start at 7-1 overall, though 3 of those wins have been against non-D1 competition. Their lone loss was by five points at Mississippi State, while last time out they won dramatically at home over Louisiana-Monroe on a last second three-pointer by Aaron Augustin. TJ Holyfield has continued to be the Lumberjacks’ best player, averaging over 18 points and 7 rebounds per game. Holyfield only missed one field goal attempt in the win over ULM. Louisiana Tech will need to find a way to slow TJ and his teammates down if they want to find a way to win tonight’s big game.
