Dartmouth at New Hampshire, 7:00 PM Eastern, americaeast.tv
Conference play is starting to kick into gear, but tonight we are taking a step out away from it for the Battle of the Granite State as the Dartmouth Big Green travel across state to take on the UNH Wildcats. The host New Hampshire Wildcats enter the game at only 3-10 on the season, with only one of those wins having come against D1 competition. The good news for UNH is that after tonight’s game America East conference play will begin and they will essentially be able to hit the reset button on their season.
The visiting Big Green enter at 4-6 on the year. Ivy League play will start for Dartmouth next week with a game at Harvard, though they will step oft of conference after that for two more games (vs Vermont and at Boston College). Last season, Dartmouth won this rivalry game to cut UNH’s all-time lead to 34-30. The game was won thanks to a three pointer by Brendan Berry with 3 seconds left. The Wildcats responded with what for a moment looked like a buzzer beater of their own, but Jaleen Smith was ruled not to have gotten the shot off in time, and Dartmouth escaped. Although neither of these teams have impressive records or notable wins on the season to date, none of that matters in a rivalry game, and this should definitely be a fun one in the Granite State tonight.
