Grand Canyon at South Dakota State, 8:00 PM Eastern, MidCo SN/espn3
Then 2018-19 season starts today with the busiest single-day schedule of the entire season as over 145 games involving at least one D1 team will be played today, most of them this evening. Between the Champions Classic on ESPN, and games like North Carolina at Wofford and Florida at Florida State on ESPN2, and Western Kentucky at Washington (ESPNU) and BYU at Nevada (CBS Sports Network) in the late night, there are tons of viewing options. However, one of your screens should find a way to watch what could be one of the best Under the Radar matchups this season when Thunder Dan’ Grand Canyon Antelopes head to Brookings to take on Mike Daum and the South Dakota State Jackrabbits.
Tonight’s game is a battle between two teams that we at HoopsHD ranked in our preseason Under the Radar Top Ten. They are both favorites to win their conferences this season. For the visiting ‘Lopes, the season goal is a first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament (in only their second year of eligibility after transitioning up to D1). The Jackrabbits are NCAA veterans, seeking their fourth consecutive bid to the Big Dance, led by one of the nation’s best players (not just Under the Radar but overall) in Mike Daum, a guy capable of scoring 30+ points and getting close to 20 rebounds per game. Tonight’s game is also the first of this year’s inaugural 9-game WAC/Summit League Challenge Series. The two conferences are certainly starting things out with a bang, giving us their very best game first!
