Furman (23-6, 13-3) at UNC-Greensboro (23-6, 13-3) – 7:00 PM EST (ESPN+)
Tonight’s UTR Game of the Day is shaping up as a potential preview of the SoCon Tournament semifinals if the season were to end today – the UNC-Greensboro Spartans play host to the Furman Paladins in the Greensboro Coliseum tonight. UNC-G won the first meeting between both teams in Greenville 86-73 back on January 13; Isaiah Miller led the Spartans with 18 points and 5 assists in that contest. UNC-G has also won six straight games to at least remain in the NCAA Tournament at-large discussion; they have had to walk on pins and needles just to beat Wofford at home in overtime and even at lowly VMI on the road.
Furman comes into tonight’s game having won eight out of their last nine games; the lone exception was a 75-66 loss at East Tennessee State last night that cost the Paladins a potential shot at the #1 seed in the conference tournament set to begin next week in Asheville. However, the Paladins are coming off of a thrilling 67-66 win against upstate rival Wofford; Mike Bothwell hit a layup with 12.1 seconds to put Furman ahead for good to salvage a season split against the Terriers.
