Toledo at Central Michigan, 5:00 PM Eastern, espn+
MACtion is on tap for this evening in the Under the Radar Game of the Day as the Toledo Rockets head to Mount Pleasant, Michigan to take on the Chippewas of Central Michigan. With a win today, the Rockets can clinch the outright regular season championship in the MAC as they enter play at 14-3 in conference and 19-6 overall. Toledo has five players averaging double figures in scoring, led by 17.5 points per game from Marreon Jackson, and resulting in the #13 adjusted offensive efficiency in the nation, according to KenPom. After today’s game, just a home contest against Ball State (who beat the Rocket back on February) remains before the MAC Tournament in Cleveland next week.
Central Michigan, barring any changes in the format or teams in front of them not participating, does not appear to be line for one of the 8 spots in the MAC Tournament. The Chippewas are instead playing out their season, which will likely end on Friday with a home game against Northern Illinois. CMU is 2-12 in MAC play and 6-15 overall. Top scorer Travon Broadway Jr. (17.5 points per game) and point guard Devontae Lane have both missed the last three games and are listed as questionable for tonight. Meikkel Murray will need to be the key tonight, especially if Broadway and Lane cannot go. He did have a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds in the Chippewas’ 89-72 loss in Toledo back on January 19.
