Toledo (7-3) at Marshall (9-2) – 3:30 PM ET (ESPN+)
With exam week finally over for just about every college and university at the D1 level, we will now get a heavier schedule of games before the holiday break begins next week. As for today, we get a one-time matchup of conference mates as the Toledo Rockets travel down to Huntington to meet the Marshall Thundering Herd. Toledo started off their season real well with a neutral-court win against UAB, but a bad MTE showing in the Gulf Coast Showcase that included losses to Kansas City and East Carolina have hampered the Rockets’ at-large NCAA hopes. Nonetheless, they are still the preseason favorites to win the MAC and are a serious challenger for the conference’s auto bid.
Marshall stumbled out of the gates with a loss at Queens in Charlotte, but immediately went on a 9-game winning streak to show that performance may have been an aberration. That winning streak was snapped on Tuesday with a 75-67 loss at UNC-Greensboro. After tonight’s game, there will be one final nonconference game (a non-D1 game) for the Herd before making their Sun Belt debut against Appalachian State. Both Taevion Kinsey (21.2 points a game) and Andrew Taylor (18.6 points a game) lead a Marshall offensive unit that averages just over 80 points a game.
