Today’s UTR Game of the Day takes us to The Blacktop (technically the O’Rena) where the Oakland Golden Grizzlies host the Purdue-Fort Wayne Mastodons. This is Oakland’s second home game of the season after spending much of their time on the road. They had a 5th place finish in the Cayman Islands Classic and most notably a 78-76 win at Xavier for their first-ever win against the Musketeers. More importantly, they did not let down and opened conference play with a 15-point win at Detroit-Mercy. Trey Townsend averages 15.6 points a game (including 28 points at Xavier) and 8 rebounds a game for Oakland.
Fort Wayne started off their season with a win at DePaul and has not looked back since; the only loss the Mastodons have on their schedule so far was a loss at WCC contender San Francisco (and by contention I really mean 2nd place at best). Fort Wayne opened up conference play with a 75-71 home win against Green Bay. Rasheed Bello averages 15.1 points a game for the Mastodons.
