East meets West (no, not East-West that DePaul plays semi-annually) in this matchup of Big East titans. (Well, maybe they were once titans in the Iron Age of the NCAA). The resistable force meets the movable object as the Georgetown Hoyas travel to Chicago to take on the DePaul Blue Demons. Also keep in mind that this is not the first time we’ve had a historic matchup to determine the 2024 Hoops HD Stallings Award (click here for a list of past winners) this year – DePaul did beat Louisville earlier this season at home in front of a packed crowd of tens of people.
One way or another, a long losing streak will come to an end today. Georgetown has lost eight road games in Big East play in a row (their last win was actually at Butler 370 days ago). DePaul has lost 16 games in a row against Big East foes – their last win came against Seton Hall in the Big East Tournament. If you go solely by regular season Big East games, the Blue Demons have lost a staggering 27 games in a row against Big East teams; their last such win was on 1/18/23 against #8 Xavier last season. And plenty of tickets are available for tonight’s titanic struggle in the South Chicago Loop!
