Before you go any further, I want to make sure you know what you are looking at. This bracket, like all my brackets, are CHECKPOINTS of CURRENT MERIT. This is not an attempt to guess what I think the real Selection Committee’s bracket will look like on Selection Sunday. I am not a Selection Committee guessing expert. We have a couple of those on this site, but I’m not one of them. This is also not an attempt to rank how good I think the teams actually are. I happen to think both Iowa and Georgia are very good, but they did not make this bracket because they don’t have the merit in terms of difficult wins yet. I’m really just asking myself one question when I select and see the teams, and that’s how hard was it to post the record they have against the schedule that they played?

OTHERS CONSIDERED: Iowa, Georgia, Ohio State, UCF, Richmond, Santa Clara, Colorado, Baylor, South Florida, Akron, Kentucky, Indiana, Wyoming, Wake Forest, Dayton
COMMENTS FROM DAVID:
-Michigan is probably playing the best basketball right now, but Arizona is my overall #1 seed because I think their profile is just a little bit better. Both profiles are outstanding. In fact all four #1 seeds have all managed high caliber wins away from home already, but Arizona’s profile is just phenomenal.
-Nebraska on the #2 line may seem like a bit of a shock, but here’s the deal…they are undefeated and they’ve beaten a protected seed in a true road game. No one seeded behind them can say that. I don’t think Nebraska will end up seeded as high as the 2-line come March, but I do think they are very good and have a shot at ending up as a protected seed.
-McNeese is inside the bubble. They do have an atrocious loss on their profile, but they also have multiple decent wins away from home and I think that overall their team is really good. They had one really bad night and that alone could sink them, but they are a very good team overall.
-Louisville on the 7-line is going to make people’s heads explode. This is another case where I think a team is better than their current profile, but I’m seeding teams based on profile and not how good I think they actually are. Louisville has played two road games and not only lost them both, but lost them both rather badly. Nearly everyone I have seeded in front of them has been better away from home.
