We are only 5 days away from Selection Sunday as we continue to make our NCAA tourney predictions. Three more teams punched their tickets tonight as UNC Wilmington won the Colonial, Iona repeated as Metro Atlantic champions by winning a thriller at Siena, and East Tennessee State won the SoCon, and we review that as well as all the other action.  Chaos continues to reign in the Horizon League as Milwaukee and Northern Kentucky have advanced to the finals, South Dakota and South Dakota State played a thriller in the semifinals of the Summit League with SD State advancing to meet Omaha in the championship game, Gonzaga and Saint Mary’s have advanced to the championship game of the West Coast conference and will play each other tomorrow, Vermont rolled through the semis of the America East, and the MEAC and MAC Tournaments got underway.

Hoops HD Bracket Rundown: March 6th

Each staff member from Hoops HD all put together their own individual seed list where they ranked their top 50 teams.  They submitted them to Chad who tallied them all and then put them in the bracket.  It is revealed line by line on the year, and the panel discusses, debates, and assesses each team.  This is not an attempt to guess the actual selection committee, but rather what they think the field should look like.

The Show was recorded on Monday, March 6th at 9:45pm, est.  It does not reflect any games that went final after that.

The end of the regular season means that it is time to recognize the best players in college basketball. HoopsHD’s Jon Teitel has reviewed all the numbers and is ready to announce his picks for Part 2 of the 5 best players from each conference based on their all-around stats. Championship Week Video Notebook: Day 7

We look back at the three championship games that were played as the Atlantic Sun, Big South, and Missouri Valley had teams punch tickets to the dance.  It was a busy day beyond that as the upsets continued in the Horizon League, and as chalk held in the Colonial.  Monmouth, who was clearly the best team in the MAAC this year, fell to Siena on Siena’s home court.  We spend some time discussing whether or not it’s fair to structure a tournament in a way that forces the first place team to play and win a road game, especially if they had already previously played and won.  We also look at all of the other action in the Summit League, two great games in the Patriot League, and the SoCon, and look ahead to all of Monday’s action.  As always we look into our mailbag at the beginning and update our Survival Board at the end.
