Tonight’s UTR Game of the Day takes us to the burbs of New York City – the Iona Gaels will play host to the Ohio Bobcats. OU has already made one trip to the Empire State earlier this season and came up victorious with a 12-point win at St. Bonaventure in their season opener. Ben Vander Plas has averaged 15 points and 5 rebounds a game thus far for the Bobcats.
Iona is coming off of a tough 70-64 overtime loss at La Salle last Saturday at Tom Gola Arena – the Explorers did jump out to an 18-point lead at halftime before Iona mounted a 2nd half comeback that included a game-tying three-point shot with under 10 seconds to play in regulation. Tajuan Agee led Iona with 21 points and 9 rebounds in that game; they are also expected to have head coach Tim Cluess back on the bench after missing Saturday’s game due to illness.
