Today’s UTR Game of the Day takes us to the Pelican State, home of both the Louisiana Rajun’ Cajuns and the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. Not counting a season-opening win against Loyola of New Orleans in a non-D1 matchup, the Rajun’ Cajuns have an odd 8-game streak of alternating wins and losses. This is also because all of their losses have either been on the road or on a neutral court in Las Vegas. Jalen Johnson leads Louisiana with 16.7 points a game and 6.7 rebounds a game.
Louisiana Tech looked like they might have a similar profile to that of Louisiana, but the big difference is that they were able to get a signature win on the road. These Bulldogs ended up getting a win at Mississippi State a week ago, although it was slightly tempered a bit with a follow-up loss at Sam Houston State. Losses at Indiana and Creighton won’t be backbreakers, and if they rack up a gaudy record in C-USA, it’s possible LA Tech might have an at-large case. Amorie Archibald has averaged 13.3 points a game after missing the first three games of the season.
