Tonight’s UTR Game of the Day takes us to Des Moines, Iowa where the Drake Bulldogs host the Ramblers of Loyola in an early Missouri Valley Conference matchup. The Ramblers got off to a slow start where they were 3-4 and also finished 7th in the Cayman Islands Classic, but since then have won seven of eight where their only loss was at home against Davidson. A win at Valpo and at home against Missouri State has put Loyola at the top of the Valley for the moment with a 2-0 start. Cameron Krutwig (16.5 PPG/8.1 RPG) leads the way for the Ramblers.
Drake opened conference play with a loss at Bradley; despite a 21-point effort from Liam Robbins and a 10-point/12-assist outing from Roman Penn, the Bulldogs lost 80-62. They did rebound with an 80-76 victory at home against Indiana State. The win was Drake’s 12th straight at home dating back to last season – they were led by five scorers in double figures.
