Jacksonville State (7-2, 3-0) at Eastern Kentucky (9-2, 3-1) – 8:00 PM EST (ESPN+)
Tonight’s UTR Game of the Day goes to the OVC where the Colonels of Eastern Kentucky will host the Jacksonville State Gamecocks. We normally talk more about coach Ray Harper’s teams in March when they’re making unexpected postseason runs (i.e. Jax St., Western Kentucky), but the Gamecocks have gotten off to a 3-0 start in league play this year. With the wins coming against bottom feeders like Tennessee Tech and UT-Martin, tonight’s game represents a huge jump up in competition. Darian Adams is averaging just over 14 points a game for Jax State.
Eastern Kentucky continues to look more and more like a team that will be in the thick of the OVC race this year. The Colonels ended up splitting games with Morehead State to start league play (and frankly were lucky not to be swept), but an 80-75 win at Austin Peay in their last game was a more encouraging sign. Wendell Green Jr. had 30 points for EKU in their last outing.
