News, Notes, and Highlighted Games: Monday, Jan 18th

-A very light day in the world of college hoops.  VA Tech got a scare at Wake Forest yesterday, but held on to win, and Western Kentucky won their second straight game against Marshall, which should put them back in the C-USA driver’s seat and keep their hopes for landing inside the bubble alive.

-Iowa also had not trouble at Northwestern and ended up blowing them out.  Iowa looks like  solid protected seed, and Northwestern looks like a team that’s trying to hold on to a spot on the bubble.

-We will be recording this week’s Hoops HD Report tonight, so be on the lookout for that.

-SAINT JOHN’S AT UCONN.  UConn is really on a roll, is safely in the top half of the bracket right now, and shouldn’t have too much trouble holding serve in this one.

-FLORIDA STATE AT LOUISVILLE (ACC).  Louisville really laid an egg in their last game at Miami, but they still have a really good resume overall.  Florida State has looked solid as well, but a road win in a game like this would really give them a boost.

-KANSAS AT BAYLOR (Big 12).  This is the showcase game of the evening, and perhaps of the entire week.  Baylor is pretty much the consensus #2 team in the country, and Kansas is shooting for a spot on the #1 seed line, so it’s definitely a clash of the titans type of game.
