Under the Radar Game of the Day – Sunday, February 14

Stony Brook at Vermont, 12:00 PM Eastern, espn+

A Sunday afternoon (and Valentine’s Day) look at scenic Burlington, Vermont is in store for today’s Under the Radar Game of the Day as the Vermont Catamounts host the Stony Brook Seawolves in America East play.  Today’s game is the second of back-to-back games between these two teams, with Vermont  (7-3 overall and in conference) having won 86-78 yesterday with five players  all scoring in double digits.  Ryan Davis leads the way for the Catamounts on the season with 19.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.  However, as yesterday’s game proved, Vermont is a tough team to stop — as shown by their top-rated offense in the conference according to KenPom.  The Catamounts have struggled mightily with COVID issues this season, and just getting on the court has been somewhat of an accomplishment.

Stony Brook will be looking to split this weekend’s series and break a 3-game losing streak that has dropped them to 8-11 overall and 6-7 in conference play.  Juan Felix Rodriguez is the team’s leading scorer at 12.1 points per game, though also keep an eye on top rebounder Mouhamadou Gueye (9.7 point and 6.7 boards per game).  The Seawolves will have to do a much better down slowing down Vermont’s offense if they want to get the win and remain in contention for one of the top four spots in the conference — which will earn them at least the right to host the opening two rounds of the conference tournament, if not a bye to the semifinals (for a first or second place finish).
