Happy New Year from everyone on the Hoops HD Staff – our UTR Game of the Day goes to Carbondale, Illinois where the Salukis of Southern Illinois hosts the Belmont Bruins in the Missouri Valley Conference. This is the 2nd Belmont game in a row we have highlighted; they moved up to 2-1 in league play after beating Bradley at home to knock the Braves out of the ranks of the unbeaten in MVC play. Drew Fribert led the Bruins with 21 points.
SIU has wins at Evansville and at Murray State in league play; their only loss so far in the MVC was at home against Indiana State. The Salukis are also on an overall 5-game winning streak that includes a win at SEMO along with 3 other buy-game wins. Marcus Domask (17.6 PPG, 6.2 RPG) leads the way for SIU.
