Tonight’s UTR Game of the Day goes to the city of Norfolk where the Hampton Pirates pay a visit to their old conference rival Norfolk State in a game dubbed as the Battle of the Bay. This rivalry dates back to the 1958-59 season. Hampton opened up the season with a 12-point loss at Howard, but they are coming off of a 109-46 win against non-D1 Mid-Atlantic Christian in their last outing. Kyrese Mullin had 25 points and 18 rebounds in only 27 minutes in the Pirates’ victory.
The Spartans of Norfolk State will be concluding a 3-game homestand that has featured a pair of wins against non-D1 programs Penn State-Wilkes Barre and the Apprentice School. Five Spartan players scored in double figures in the 90-56 win against Apprentice School; Jaylani Darden led the way with 12 points in only 22 minutes of game action.
