Tonight’s UTR Game of the Day takes us to Rock Hill, SC for a matchup between a pair of Greater Charlotte teams – the Queens Royals and the Winthrop Eagles. Queens comes in on a modest 2-game winning streak that includes a win against a non-D1 Carolina Christian team. Much more notable was their 83-80 win at home against Gardner-Webb; BJ McLaurin hit a game-winning 3-pointer with 0.9 seconds remaining to give the Royals the lead for good.
Winthrop comes into tonight having won five out of their last six contests. In their last outing, KJ Doucet had 22 points to lead the Eagles in a 90-87 road win at Coastal Carolina. After this game, Winthrop will embark on a 4-game road trip that includes Xavier in the Skip Prosser Classic (Winthrop head coach Mark Prosser is the son of the late Skip Prosser), South Carolina and Florida State.
