Under the Radar Game of the Day – Sunday, December 31st

Oakland (6-8, 1-2) at Youngstown State (10-3, 2-0) – 2:30 PM ET (ESPN+)

Today’s UTR Game of the Day heads to Youngstown where the hometown Penguins host the Oakland Golden Grizzlies in a Horizon League matchup. Youngstown State is currently on a 7-game winning streak that began with a pair of conference victories against Cleveland State and Robert Morris on the road. In that streak, the Penguins also have a pair of road victories against MAC schools Ohio and Western Michigan. Four players average double figures in points; Brandon Rush leads the way with 13.7 points a game.

Oakland has begun to hit the skids after going through the toughest portion of their schedule; their highlight so far was a 78-76 win at Xavier back in the early part of the month. Within the Horizon, Oakland’s only win was against a winless Detroit-Mercy team; their two losses are against conference leader Purdue-Fort Wayne at home and, most recently, an 8-point loss at Cleveland State. Trey Townsend averages 16.1 points a game and 7.3 rebounds a game for the Golden Grizzlies.
