Under the Radar Game of the Day – Friday, January 5th

Bowling Green (10-3, 1-0) at Akron (9-4, 1-0) – 9:00 PM ET (ESPN+)

Tonight’s UTR Game of the Day takes us to the Rubber Capital of the World where the Akron Zips will host the Bowling Green Falcons in a MAC matchup. Akron opened up their season strong with a road win at South Dakota State and a win at home against Southern Miss in the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge. More recently, the Zips opened conference play with a 73-51 win at Northern Illinois; Enrique Freeman had a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds.

Bowling Green has the MAC’s longest NCAA Tournament drought; they have not been to the Big Dance since 1968 (back when Bill Fitch was their head coach). While they haven’t had the strongest of schedules, the Falcons nonetheless come into tonight on an 8-game winning streak that includes a 92-90 win against Eastern Michigan in their conference opener. Marcus Hill averages 20.5 points a game for BGSU.
