Today’s UTR Game of the Day takes place in Charlotte where the hometown 49ers host the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky in the second leg of this weekend series. WKU won the first game 67-63 between the two teams yesterday; Taevion Hollingsworth led the Tops with 14 points. With a six-game winning streak in tow that includes a win at Alabama, WKU will be looking for what they hope will be a lucky 7 and a potential vault into the Top 25 next week.
Prior to yesterday’s loss, Charlotte had won three games in a row, including a win against crosstown rival Davidson back on the 15th of December that began their recent winning ways. They also hit a pair of free throws in the closing seconds at GW to secure a 66-65 victory against their former A-10 friends. Jahmir Young is averaging 19.4 points a game for the 49ers.
